Placement Process & Background Checks

We're here to ensure you're matched with a nanny who is not only the ideal candidate for your family, but who understands their level of responsibility in this position. Being entrusted with the well being of your children must be of the utmost concern to the nanny. There are no shortcuts or compromises.

Each of our nanny candidates goes through an extensive screening process before we will represent them. We personally screen each candidate so our clients won't have to spend their valuable time meeting prospective nannies who would not be the right fit for their family.
Classic Nannies's screening policies are certainly among the most rigorous in the industry. Each candidate must:

  • Pass an in-depth interview process.
  • Pass the International Nanny Credential Exam (no other agency requires this).
  • Pass a criminal background check that is performed for every county dating back 7 years, including a Social Security trace and a check through the National Sex Offender Registry.
  • Pass a five panel drug test (no other agency requires this).
  • Be Livescan registered which is required by the State of California (some agencies do not enforce this - we do!).
  • Have a clean DMV report and proof of motor vehicle insurance.
  • Have employment and character references that are double checked by us and provided to the family upon placement.
  • Be CPR AND First Aid certified, and current (most agencies only require one OR the other).

In addition to the above, candidates should have some Early Childhood Education (ECE), and bi/tri-lingual is a plus.

Steps to Get Started:
STEP 1: Please complete our Family Application and Agreement. (see below)

STEP 2: Our Placement Specialist will conduct a thorough consultation with your family.

STEP 3: We match the best candidates based on your requirements and forward their applications and references on to you.

STEP 4: You review the applications and interview candidates directly. We will be in touch throughout this interviewing process to provide assistance.

STEP 5: Hire a great nanny for your family!

STEP 6: We forward your nanny's criminal background checks (performed for every county dating back 7 years), Motor Vehicle Record, and Social Security verification to you.

STEP 7: We follow up with your family and nanny on a consistent basis to ensure everything is going well.

Fees and Guarantees
After our initial meeting, a $250 assessment fee is required to move forward. If Classic Nannies does not provide viable candidates for you within a 45 day period this entire fee is refunded to you. When a placement is made, we charge a direct hire placement fee equal to 15% of the nannies annual gross income. We also offer a 4 month guarantee on this placement. If for some reason you are not satisfied and feel the nanny is not an ideal match for your family, we will find a replacement at no additional charge (if the original job description did not change).

We support our nannies by offering a knowledgeable and friendly staff to assist you throughout the placement process and beyond. Your happiness and satisfaction is very important to us.

Candidate Requirements
Classic Nannies is always looking for enthusiastic, experienced and caring candidates to work in positions throughout California. In addition, we require:

  • 1-2 years of verifiable child care experience with references.
  • High School diploma and some college education.
  • Reliable car, current driver's license and proof of motor vehicle insurance.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification (infant/child).
  • Pass a five panel drug test.
  • Pass the International Nanny Credential Exam.
  • Pass a criminal background check that is performed for every county dating back 7 years, including a Social Security trace and a check through the National Sex Offender Registry.
  • Willing to be registered with the Livescan Fingerprinting System.
